Thomas Edison, Leonardo Da Vinci, Steve Jobs were among the godfathers of ideas and ideas are what propels humanity forward.
bangkokvanguards and mysocialmotion may not be in the same league as Edison and Jobs but we also drive and prosper through ideas, they are the fuel that powers us. mysocialmotion’s ideas revolve around connecting the public and private sector with NGOs and their causes. Our ideas revolve around gearing tourism towards positive impact. mysocialmotion creates creative campaigns and applications connected to a highly innovative online platform, bangkokvanguards provides and develops creative and unique Thailand travel experiences that foster exchange and connect to the causes of changemakers. This is how we connect with mysocialmotion and why we support each other and we want you to become supporters of mysocialmotion too.
We feel attracted to creative people who are likewise full of ideas that are benefitting Thailand and the world at large. The excitement that emerges from an idea brainstorm with likeminded people fills us with a lot of energy but the frenzy puffs out quickly if you don’t follow through. It’s the doers with the drive, commitment and energy that bring these ideas to life and two extraordinary doers are Boom and Alice founders of the social enterprise mysocialmotion.
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things”
They have set out to spread 100 of those little ideas that make the difference in our daily lives and in the lives of others. Ideas as simple as sharing your umbrella when it rains, see the perfect example in the video:
What triggered them was the realization that many people love Thailand but they wondered how these people expressed their love? To find out, the IDEACUBES project was born.
“IDEACUBES is an exciting public participation project aimed at inspiring ordinary people to take the first step towards social responsibility by taking small, simple actions. It’s a call to action for everyone to change our country, and change the world – by starting with ourselves”
To achieve that, 100 ideas will be selected and 100 volunteer artists will each produce a creative, beautiful or interactive 1mx1mx1m cube that presents one idea. The cubes will be exhibited in 20 prime locations throughout Bangkok inviting the public to take action.

We first met Boom and Alice at a volunteer street fair at Suan Benjasiri over a year ago. On that day they had a booth where they invited the public to write an idea that would contribute positively to our society. My brother, Daniel and squeezed our brains and wrote our ideas on little post-it stickers to be sticked on a cube. More pictures!
Out of these ideas 100 ideas were later on selected to provide the creative foundation for the 100 artists to unleash their creativity into the public to inspire people to take action.
It’s the first city wide exhibition of its kind and the bangkokvanguards team is excited to be part of this project.
So far we’ve helped with media production e.g. interview, artist welcome video at Siam@Siam Hotel, etc. It was a great day and we inspired the volunteers to munch away the finger food buffet before any of the artist could get a bite but apart from eating we enjoyed meeting lots of nice people.
Besides videos we want to support mysocialmotion in two major ways: one is to ask you the reader, our community and friends to support the IDEACUBE Project by sharing this blog, picking an idea, taking action, document it in a funny and creative way and post it to mysocialmotion’s Facebook wall. We will take the best entries on an awesome bikeride to Amphawa. The second way is to help reinforce the impact of the artists by mobilizing our friends and to pull as many people as possible out of their comfort zones to create flashmob style operations that will carry the IDEACUBE spirit into Bangkok. Need an example on how to get out of your comfort zone?
Remember, where ever you’re living, every city is teeming with awesome people waiting for the eruption of positive energy and creativity, make that eruption happening, make sure it’s going to be loud, make sure it’s going to be fun, inspiring, and awesome or thought provoking for we shall not fall into a daily grind that entraps us in boredom and lack of originality. The IDEACUBE project is one major idea and so many more are floating around us inviting us to be part in the process that contributes to our cultures and societies. We don’t always need to reinvent the wheel but we can replicate ideas in our own context, to give them new shapes and to reconnect them together with like-minded people sharing the common goal of making the best out of life whilst amplifying the good in our societies.
What holds some of us back? Some may have difficulties to create ideas, others like Boom and Alice churn them out like a popcorn machine and you may wonder why. Here’s a video on where good ideas come from:
Conclusion: mysocialmotion realized that many people love Thailand but they wondered how people expressed their love. To answer that question they came up with the Ideacubes. We from bangkokvanguards know they’re are great communities out there that love Thailand and we know how they express their love but our question is: What can bangkokvanguards do to increase the impact of those communities? We need your help to find the answer! join us
